Taking a different view on life

So, let's kick off today with a welcome return for Mordaca, and the Black Rose as we hear of some Incidents After A Way Too Successful Job.

I have a short tale for you today of a robbery, which offers a chance to explore a different Point of View of a situation.

I also have a story that fulfills a request I received from a young lady called Marsha, who wanted me to explain how a girl in a picture she sent me ended up in the situation she was depicted in. Well, I'm always happy to fulfill requests such as these, so you can now read the story of Heidi and the Mystery Aunt. It's slightly different from the norm, but I hope you enjoy it.

Finally, for those who have partaken of the haggis this week, I offer the tale from the past of Robber Burns.

More, as always, next week.

Because it is today

Is there for honest poverty
That hings his head, an a' that?
The coward slave, we pass him by -
We dare be poor for a' that!
For a' that, an a' that!
Our toils obscure, an a' that,
The rank is but the guinea's stamp,
The man's the gowd for a' that.

What though on hamely fare we dine,
Wear hodding grey, an a' that?
Gie fools their skills, and knaves their wine -
A man's a man for a' that.
For a' that, an a' that,
Their tinsel show, an a' that,
The honest man, tho e'er sae poor,
Is king o men for a' that.

Ye see yon birkie ca'd 'a lord,'
Wha struts, an stares, an a' that?
Tho hundreds worship at his word,
He's but a cuif for a' that.
For a' that, an a' that,
His ribband, star, an a' that,
The man o independent mind,
He looks an laughs at a' that.

A prince can mak a belted knight,
A marquis, duke, an a' that!
But an honest man's aboon his might -
Guid faith, he mauna fa' that!
For a' that, an a' that,
Their dignities, an a' that,
The pith o sense an pride o worth,
Are higher rank than a' that.

Then let us pray that come it may
(As come it will for a' that),
That Sense and Worth o'er a' the earth,
Shall bear the gree an a' that.
For a' that, an a' that,
It's coming yet for a' that,
That man to man, the world, o'er
Shall brithers be for a' that.

Rites of Passage

I guess for may of us, we still remember the day we left for college, or started a new career, or a new phase of our life, and how it made us feel.

In our new stories today, that is certainly a feeling the people involved share - as well in a way as myself and the authors. Allow me to explain.

Ever since we had the privilege of hosting again the stories of Gillian B, myself and Doctor George have been working on new tales that have brought the career of Coco Aldington up to the present day. In those, we have hinted at an assistant to both the engineer Colette Aldington and the master thief known as La Cioccolata - but who is this assistant, and how did she get to such a position? Join Doctor George as he begins that story with the tale of a Return Visit.

Now, as for Jim from Michigan, his stories have proved very popular, so I'm happy to post here the second part of Sorority Rites, and we look forward to more from him in the future.

And me? Well, I have a little tale for you called Quality Time, but I'm also facing a few changes - which will not affect this site, with any luck.

More, as always, next week.

It's not a joke

I now have a page on Facebook - you can find me at this page if you wish to make friends.

Here Come The Ladies...

This week, for various reasons, we focus on the ladies who appear regularly at KP Presents.

For example. poor Anne has still got some uninvited guests in the final part of The Hostage Weekend. Be warned - this installment is definitely for adults only, and has embedded photos. There will be more stories from The Chase Files in the near future.

We also meet up again with a lady we have not seen for some time - Ginger Cavanaugh. At the special request of patthepainter, we tell the tale of when Ginger visited her niece in the Midlands, and discovered that for two acquaintances of ours Manners Maketh The Man.

Oh - and Ed Overton would like you to read our classic tale of Ginger, Invitation To Danger.

Speaking of contributors and the ladies, Tull has a new story for you this week, of the day The Drama Queen Takes A Detour.

More, as always, next week.

So, then...

Where to start for 2011?

Well, how about letting JennyGagged tell the tale of Leah's Nightmare Weekend?

On the other hand, we could look at the diary of Madame X as she continues to explain the Portrait of a Lady. Maybe not a lot of actual robbing and binding, but an important stage nonetheless.

Now, I get requests from time to time. One I've been sitting on for a while was to do a story where a victim is interviewed by the police. Another is to do what is called a "Force Play" story - not my normal cup of tea, but I have been known to do it from time to time. Well, for this policeman and this victim, it's Just Another Day - and if you want real force play, hang around - the next part of The Hostage Weekend is coming soon.

Another thing I'm asked is what my favourite story is for some of my characters. For example, the rogues we know as Mister Tall and Mister Small. You'll get a chance to vote in the poll, but I have to admit I can;t decide between two that have got a lot of comments in the past- Indian Takeaway and The St Monica's Ladies Circle. So, enjoy them both.

More next week.

Happy Old Year...

In which we rumble through the site records for December, a month where the number of hits traditionally drops – especially when I skedaddle off for one third of it. With that in mind, thank you to those who did stop by, even on Christmas day.

An especially warm welcome to those who passed by from Kenya, Nicaragua, Qatar, Saint Helena and South Korea – but sadly we still await a visitor from Alaska or South Dakota...

Also, a big welcome if you found us through DamselTube – it’s a pleasure to see you here. We also got a few visitors thanks to plugs by Bound_is_Best over at Fetlife and InformedConsent – I thank you for them.
